Childhood friends from the edge of Chicagoland, the band’s first gig was a riverboat party on Illinois’ Fox River where the band was pursued down the banks by police from several townships who cited them for violating noise ordinances. The band later relocated to Los Angeles and rehearsed in a house atop Hollywood Hills where they continued to violate such laws.

Plastic Slap’s three songwriters/singers’ unique style and influence range from Rubick’s high-energy dementia to Tabasco’s straight-ahead intensity to Young’s guileless charm.  The dynamic trichotomy of personality has been compared to Roddenberry’s famous Spock/Kirk/Bones dramatic model or Freud’s classic “ego triad.”

Unconcerned and likely unaware of any of this, drummer Manny pounds on his drums as hard and as fast as possible as if he’s listening to some other bands in his ever-present headphones.

Plastic Slap’s inventive mix of classic punk, alternative rock and new wave possesses the strongest elements of bands like the Cars, Replacements and early Cheap Trick with a punch that could be called a Slap and creates their irresistible signature sound.

Founded as a counter-culture backlash to popular music of the 90s, Plastic Slap emerges as a timeless band that defies categorization and all ordinary expectations.
